Morgan, Kayla, and Bekah

Morgan sat down across from Kayla, setting her coffee on the table. She then gathered her hair into a bundle and tied it up using the hairband that barely ever spent any time on her wrist.

"Hot." Kayla muttered.

Morgan wanted to grin, but it was a smirk at best, the kind of smile given to strangers on the sidewalk. Kayla chuckled awkwardly and looked down at her latte for a while.

"Morgan, I'm really sorry."

"I know."

Despite the fact that she had never seen Morgan cry, Kayla could tell she was upset. There was the slightest quiver in her voice that dragged it down into tones only reserved for times when most would be sobbing their eyes out. She placed a hand on Kayla's arm and Kayla looked back up at her.

"I don't know why I did it," Kayla said. "I just kind of did, and it was something I just--I don't know why I did it, honestly."

Across the room, Morgan looked at the incriminating evidence. On the wall, "Kayla & Bekah" was written, right above what used to be Morgan's favorite place to sit with Kayla.

"You took her here. That's...so stupid." Morgan said coldly.
